What is the fingerprint for checking?

Step by step

1. Open a private chat.
2. Tap the ⋮ menu at the top of the room.
3. Choose „Fingerprint for checking“.
4. Read the numbers on the screen.
5. Compare them with the other person in person.
6. Or compare them on a call.
7. Do it outside the app.

Good to know

• If their key changes, a warning appears.
• The title is „The security key has changed“.
• It says that the other side has a new key.
• It may be a new install of the app.
• Someone may also be replacing the key.
• You see „Previous fingerprint“.
• You also see „New fingerprint“.
• Compare the new one before you accept.
• „Accept the new key“ accepts the change.
• „Cancel sending“ stops the sending.
• A message to an old key cannot be read.
• Ask for a new one after you accept the new fingerprint.
• In the chat there may be a line for the changed key.
• Tap it to compare the fingerprint.

If it does not work

• If the numbers are missing, open the chat again.
• First wait until there is a connection.
• After a reinstall, the accepting is on the other phone.
• It is not on your screen.
