How do disappearing messages work?

Step by step

1. Open the chat.
2. Pull the whole screen up, for longer.
3. At the bottom, „Disappearing messages“ comes out.
4. Or tap ⋮ at the top of the chat.
5. Choose „Disappearing messages“.
6. Choose 10 minutes, 30 minutes, or 1 hour.
7. It can also be 24 hours, or 3 days.

Good to know

• It applies only to new messages.
• The old messages stay.
• A light pull springs back, and nothing happens.
• The long pull opens the choice of time.
• The time runs for both of you.
• In the chat a card appears with the same time.
• The card also disappears after that time.
• A message with a timer is not forwarded.

The time is for this chat. New messages after you turn it on disappear when it ends. The old ones from before stay.

How to turn them off

1. Pull the whole screen up again.
2. Or tap ⋮ at the top again.
3. Tap „Turn off“.

After „Turn off“, new messages no longer get a timer.
