What does “minimum data” mean in Semanty?
In a secure chat, “minimum data” is a clear choice: the server is a mailbox. It keeps only what is needed for accounts and delivery, and not the content as a product for ads.
When we say “minimum data on the server”, we mean the data without which the service cannot deliver the message. Private communication does not become an ad profile, and it is not sold.
What stays on the server
The account, so you can sign in. The conversation thread, so the envelope reaches the right person. The time and the type, so delivery can be put in order. If there is an invite, its code stays too.
Text envelopes are usually cleared after 15 days. The account stays until you delete it yourself. The longer list is in the privacy policy.
The server does not read the conversation
Messages are an encrypted chat from end to end. The server carries a sealed envelope, the way a mailbox carries a letter, without opening it. We do not make an ad profile from what you write to each other.
This guards the journey. It does not guard the screen if the phone is already in someone else’s hands. A separate article covers that end: encryption guards the journey, but who guards the screen.
For people close to you, not for everyone
Semanty is a secret chat for people close to you, not a social network and not a directory. If you want to hear when it is open to everyone, sign up.
